Book Review: Nate Southard's The Slab City Event

Something has gone awry in Niland, California. The shops are closed and the towns people are nowhere to be found. Typically this time of year the town would be booming as the Slab City Riot is in full swing. Unfortunately, upon further investigation Tyson and Mack find themselves in a situation they could never have imagined that could lead to their demise.

This is hands down my new favorite book! Once I started reading it I did not want to stop.

The Slab City Event is action packed from start to finish, there are very few portions in the novel that slow down keeping the momentum going through and through. Once you think it's going to slow down, you are immediately thrown into a new character which keeps the ball rolling.

Descriptions of the characters, scenery and smaller detailed items are done in such a great manner. The author gives you enough description to get a great idea of what you should be imagining, but leave enough out in the open that the reader can envision their own version of this world.

I would typically take this time to make a few comments about things that I did not like or could have been different in the book but I honestly have no issues with it at all. All the characters were entertaining in their own way and very easy to find likable with the exception of a few people whom are supposed to give you the opposite feelings anyways so it all works out amazingly.

I am looking forward to reading more of Nate Southard's work. He has completely impressed me with this one.

10 out of 10!
